To help our Year 6 children make the transition into secondary school, we are running a resilience workshop for them during the school day. We have found this helps our children to be a little more resilient during this important change in their school life.
13th May – Year 6 SAT’s
Year 6 have been working very hard towards their Year 6 SAT’s which start week beginning 13th May. School appreciates this is a stressful time for the children and parents, but feel very confident the children will do their best. If you have any concerns please call into school to speak with Mrs O’Sullivan or Mrs Murray
End of term Disco
The PTA have organised a free end of term disco for all of the children on Thursday 4th April from 3.15pm to 4.30pm. Children cna bring clothes to school to change into. Parents are more than welcome to attend the disco and help supervise your child or join in the fun if you wish. Unfortunately on this occasion younger siblings are not able to attend.
Mother’s Day Lunch 28th March
We are looking forward to celebrating Mother’s Day Lunch in school on Thursday 28th March. This is always a special lunch which the children love to share. Please make sure you return your slip together with your choice of menu. There will be two sittings of 11.30 and 12.30. You will be notified of which sitting you have been allocated.
Parents Evening 11th and 12th March
Parents evening will be held on the 11th and 12th March starting from 3.30. Please ensure you return your appointment time to your child’s class teacher. We will look forward to seeing you on either day.
World Book Day
We will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 8th March. Celebrating World Book Day helps to remind us of the pleasure and enjoyment that books can bring. The children are invited to dress as their favourite book character. The book fair will be open from 2.30 pm and we hope you can come and join us. Refreshments will be available.
Understanding Maths
Parents are invited to come into school to learn more about our teaching of Maths and how children progress in their learning through school. KS1 children (Year 1 and 2) will be held on Wednesday 27th February and KS2 children (Year 3,4,5 and 6) will be held on Thursday 28th February. Both presentations will start at 9.00 am. A short presentation will be given by Miss Rawlings who will discuss expectations and parents will be issued with the school Calculation Policy. Parents can then go into their child’s classroom to see first-hand how Maths is taught. Miss Rawlings has promised there will be no times tables tests!
Chinese New Year
Children in school will be celebrating the Chinese New Year on Tuesday 5th February with a special Chinese Menu for lunch. This will consist of a choice of Chicken Curry with Rice, or Chow Mein or a selection of sandwiches. There will also be a visit from a Chinese Dragon and Chinese drum display.
Wear Orange for Muscular Dystrophy
Children can come to school on Friday 1st February 2019 wearing something Orange (or something with bright colours) to help support the Charity Muscular Dystrophy UK. A donation of £1.00 will to go to the ‘Love for Louis Family Fund’.
Year 4/5 Class 5 School trip to the Hancock Museum
Class 5 are booked to go to the Hancock Museum on Tuesday 22nd January 2019. This trip has been arranged to enhance their learning and understanding of their new topic ‘Land of the Pharaohs’. The children will see exhibits in relation to the Pharaohs and will partake in a workshop.
